PUNGANUR
The Punganur is Taluk in Chittoor District in Andhra Pradesh. Today,Punganur remained while popular dwarf cow breed has disappeared. Ongole & Punganur cattle breeds are pride of Andhra Pradesh.
The Punganur cow is the world's shortest, humped cattle. Most of the animals are white and light grey in colour with a broad forehead and short horns. Its average height is 70-90 cms and its weight is 115-200 kg. The cow receives cosmic energy at higher magnitude, disseminates around its presence and ambiance is divine.
The cow is an amazingly efficient milker with an average milk yield of 3-5 L/day on a daily feed intake of 5 kg. It is also highly drought resistant, and able to survive exclusively on dry fodder. It is known as poorman's cow. The cow has an aura of 120 Feet radius, receives cosmic energy at higher magnitude and disseminates all around its presence. The body language of the cow is similar to a deer. The walking style of this Cow is beautiful. It is very auspicious to have this cow. The Punganur breed's milk has a high fat content and is rich in medicinal properties. While cow milk normally has a fat content of 3 to 3.5 per cent,but the Punganur breed's milk contains 8%.
Back sloping downwards from front to hind quarters; tail touching the ground; slight mobile horns, almost flat along the back and normally at different heights from each other. The Punganur is at the verge of extinction, with some 20 odd animals remaining. The Punganur cattle are being reared mainly on the Government Livestock Farm, Palamaner, Chittoor district, while a small informal group of private breeders are also working on reviving the species. It is not officially recognized as a breed since there are only a few animals remaining.

KAPILA
This is a rare breed native to dakshina Karnataka. This breed is small in stature and produces less milk. Kapila cows milk has high medicinal values and has high healing properties.
This breed was reared by Kapila rishi and hence derived its name. A variant of this breed called as golden kapila, comes with golden eyes, nose and golden skin. This breed produces a substance called "Go-rochana" in its horns, which has high medicinal powers. The cow voluntarily sheds its horn once a year and Go-rochana is present inside the horn.
This breed is highly revered one with spiritual values. This breed has got immense tolerance to diseases and is never known to have suffered from any fatal diseases.

The breed derives its name from its place of origin - The THAR desert - They originated in Tharparkar district of southeast Sindh in Pakistan and are also found along the Indo-Pak border covering western Rajasthan and upto Rann of Kutch in Gujarat. The characteristics are majestic build, white in colour, tall, long legged with round barrel. They are resistant to many diseases and are also known for their good reproductive efficiency

The breed originated from southeast of the Desert of Cutch, along the banks of the rivers Banas and Saraswati which flow from east to west and drain into the desert of Cutch. This is one of the heaviest of the Indian breeds of cattle and its color varies from silver to gray to iron gray or steel black.
This breed is very highly prized as fast, powerful draft cattle and also fair producers of milk. These cattle are resistant to Tick fever and they show very little incidence of contagious abortion and tuberculosis. It has also been observed that the red color is recessive. Also known by the names Bannai, Nagar, Talabda, Vaghiyar, Wagad, Waged, Vadhiyar, Wadhiar, Wadhir, Wadial.

With an average length of 124 cm and height of 87 cm it is the smallest cattle breed in the world and is valued for the larger amount of milk it produces relative to the amount of food it requires. The Vechur cow was popular in Kerala until the 1960s but became rare when native cattle were crossbred with exotic varieties.
This breed has very high resistance to diseases and its milk has healing powers. This breed is also referred to as Vechoor.
